Postpartum Chronicles

Well today, we are one week postpartum and my Skylar is doing great. I can't believe that a whole week has passed. There are a few things I'd like to discuss about postpartum life so far.

This series will cover the following topics:
Postpartum: Pumpkin Updates
Postpartum: Recovery
Postpartum: Hair Woes

Let's start with "Pumpkin Updates". Its amazing just this week to watch her personality start to develop. Every new little smile, coo & cry make it all worth it. Little Miss Ma'am is not yet on any type of sleeping schedule. So we're pretty at her beckoning call. Yes, this sucks a little but we knew there would be an adjustment period in regards to "lack of sleep". We are getting used to it and learning to wake her for feedings to help create a schedule. She is very alert (almost eerily so)...I say this because my parents joke, "that child has been here before, newborns don't do that!" Lol. They are referring to her trying to support her own head and responding to noises & movements in her vicinity. My husband and I have had time to bond with her and she definitely feel she is going to be a character.

All new parents, no matter how much advice you receive or books you read will still probably make a mistake or two. We'll probably call the pediatrician too much and watch her in a "stalker-like" manner as she sleeps. Guess what, all of that is okay. Parenting is learning on the job and we're trusting our gut as we go along. For instance,  right now my gut is telling me I should nap while she is napping....so until next time, we'll go over my labor recovery process.
