Textured Beauty Spotlight: Kenya Griffin
Here at Ms. Naturally Random! I'm always out and about seeing fabulous ladies with textured tresses. I choose to wear my hair naturally as well, I love the diversity in which we style our hair. I understand that for a lot of us, our "going natural" stories are often quite unique as well. I'd like to celebrate our differences and hopefully share some insight into other's "natural hair journeys" as I continue my own.
#1 Introduce
yourself!
Hello, Naturally
Random
My name is Kenya
Griffin and I am currently a stay at home Mom (SAHM) of 2 years, continuing my
education online to become a child clinical psychologist, and a wife to a
wonderful husband (whew, tired already). I love to read in my spare time
(what's that) any sort of goodread referred, I am very down to earth, and the
simplest things make me happy. "Simplicity is the ultimate
sophistication" -Leonardo de Vinci
#2 Why did you
make the decision to go natural?
I found myself
stressing over my hair more than usual, I wanted to try something different (at
the time it wasn't natural) bored with my hair and bottom line my hair was in a
very unhealthy state.
#3 When and how
did you transition into natural hair?
I started my
transition about 2 years ago, with little research but motivation from watching
a few youtube videos I decided to alleviate heat from my regimen, and
gradually decided to do my own big chop about a few weeks after that the
decision :-/
Up until this
point I was always embarrassed, and unsure about how I felt about my natural
state. I let people question me about "why" I went natural…… I
eventually embraced my hair/texture, and explored Youtube a little further for
hair routines, styles, and hair products.
#5 What mistakes
(if any) have you made with your hair that you've learned from?
My biggest thing
I can say I learned is my hair isn't YOUR hair!! I still have not found my
go-to hair products, and what may work for you may not work for me (vice vera).
So currently I am still testing out new hair products, and always ready to buy
:-) "all I wanna do is eat, sleep, and buy hair products"!
My fro-hawk!!!
#duh LOL
I'm not a people
person but love to be engaged in hot topics, I like playing devil's advocate.
Thank you for reading this week's #TexturedBeautyTuesday feature Kenya! I thought we should know more about her! Doesn't she look fab?!
Stay tuned for next week's feature!!
Talk to you later lovelies,
