Motherhood | Momma and Pumpkin: 500 and Counting

Are you a hoarder? I mean, seriously. Are you a person that hoards things? Well, I have a confession. I am a hoarder. Not the kind of hoarder you'll find on an episode of that reality show but a digital hoarder. Pinterest, Dropbox  Google Drive are totally my enablers! *raises fist is angst* Darn you stylish fashion bloggers and delicious foodie recipes!

Though today, I'd like to discuss a different place I digitally hoard. I recently realized I had about five hundred pictures of Pumpkin. I don't know how that is even possible! FIVE HUNDRED! To make it worse, they are all on my cell phone. Now, I'll be honest, I know exactly how this happened. I remember my mom asking me months ago, "Has the newness worn off?" What she was talking about was the newness of having a baby? Were we over it? Had we gotten to the point where we didn't "ooh" and "aah" over every breath the baby took? To answer her honestly, I said, "No!"

Exhibit A: Halloween

Moms have forever collected items to record the evolution of the little beings they created. I mean, seriously there are Moms that have the whole baby book/scrapbooking game on lock down! They're in Michael or Hobby Lobby on the regular re-stocking their card stock selections and can't wait to use their new die cutting machines. For ages we've monogrammed, crocheted, embroidered and photographed our children. Why should I stop this tradition?!

Unfortunately, for my phone's storage space, she was born during an era where saving memories is easier than ever. The ease at which I can pull out my phone and snap a pic has created another problem entirely! Deciding what memories are worth...well remembering. For my husband and I, this is our first baby. Our one and only little Pumpkin! So our world ultimately revolves around her. Does ever funny face need to be captured. Probably not, but realistically I'm going to record it anyway because...well because I can.

Exhibit B: Chatterbox

Now, now let me mention that I've worked on not letting my child become a idol in my life. No false idols over here! No sir, no ma'am! *inserts Tambourine shake*

So what's a girl to do? I need my space back on my phone. There is always another precious moment right around the corner. Well I figured it out...it might seem "retro" but I'm going to go for it! Print them! That's right, print them! Who would have known stores still sell photo albums! I jest, but seriously, I can't remember the last time I actually printed a picture!

So I'll leave you with a #FrugalFind! ShutterFly.com has awesome photo products. I thought it was cool concept (I'm sure they have competitors) and they have discounts all the time! We're going to make a photo book! Its like scrapbooking but with zero risk of getting high off craft glue fumes.

  1. Yes...I am a digital hoarder. I've just deleted over 600 pictures from my phone. It was hard, but it had to be done! I told myself, whatever I delete is saved in the "cloud". But, if that's not enough and you want to print out those memories, have you considered GROOVE BOOK? This is something I saw on Shark Tank. It's a monthly subscription that takes 100 pictures off of your phone and sends you a book w/ perforated edges for easy tear. Only $2.99! (this includes taxes and shipping!) And, if you want to share a book, you can order extra and they'll ship them for you. I'm going to try it...eventually. Until then, Google holds my life. I hope they don't start charging for their services. I may have to pay that ransom.
