Textured Beauty Spotlight: Taima Rolle

Here at Ms. Naturally Random! I'm always out and about seeing fabulous ladies with textured tresses. I choose to wear my hair naturally as well, I love the diversity in which we style our hair. I understand that for a lot of us, our "going natural" stories are often quite unique as well.  I'd like to celebrate our differences and hopefully share some insight into other's "natural hair journeys" as I continue my own.

Shan: Introduce yourself!
Taima: My name is Taima. I'm 31 years young. I'm am originally from the Bahamas but I currently live in Oklahoma City. I have a six year old son and I am an Accountant for The State of Oklahoma. I've been natural for 14 years and I've had locs for 12 years.

S: Why did you make the decision to "go" natural?
Taima: I decided to go natural because I wanted healthier hair. I got tired of the chemicals and my naturally thick hair was thinning out. That's when I decided to make the switch.

S: When and how did you transition into natural hair?
Taima:  The transition was easy for me. I just cut off ALL OF MY HAIR and I wore a wig. LOL. I got it all over with quick

S: In what ways (if any) has going natural affected you?
Taima:  I wasn't really affected by going natural. I think it was the easiest transition I ever made. I enjoyed changing up with different wigs and scarves. When they time came to wear my natural hair out, I wore straw curls.

S: What mistakes (if any) have you made with your hair that you've learned from?
Taima:  The biggest mistake I made was over using a brush and comb. That was a big No NO, it basically thinned out my hair around my crown. I would suggest running your fingers gently through your hair.

S: What is your go-to hairstyle?
Taima:  My go to hair style is an up do. I LOVE THEM!! I think they are chic and class and it goes well with the shape of my face.

S: Share a random fact about yourself.
Taima:  The most random fact about me is my love for twerking in my mirror alone when I am home. I'm a natural LOL
