Beauty | Shea Moisture African Black Soap Dandruff Control Conditioner Review
I generally use (my favorite) SheaMoisture's Coconut and Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner but I was running out recently. I happened upon SheaMoisture African Black Soap Dandruff Control Conditioner during a shopping trip over holiday season last December. I found it in TJ Maxx of all places. Side note: If you didn't know, TJ Maxx/Marshalls are great places to pick up pricey hair care products. It initially caught my eye because of the bold print "Dandruff Control Conditioner". Who doesn't want to control their dandruff? Ha!
Anyway, now, let me tell you, in comparison to the Coconut and Hibiscus line, this stuff is a bit strong to the nose department. It's...well...kinda' stinky to me. You notice it's aroma on the first pump. It's one of those, you either absolutely love it or disdainfully hate it type smells. Fragrance aside, it's pretty much all PROS.
My observations:
#1 Just like all of Shea Moisture's conditioners (pre-Break The Walls campaign) came with a pump. Any conditioner with a pump is some kinda' great in my book. As someone that generally washes my hair in the shower, the pump makes application just that much easier. I have tapered natural hair and although it is short, it's still thick as ever!
#2 This conditioner has great slip and makes my hair easy to comb during detangling. Dandruff isn't a year-round issue for me. It's winter now, and it has really helped keep my scalp from becoming dry and all flaky.
#3 It really does take care of itchy scalp. Initially, I couldn't tell a difference but all my life, no matter what product I use, I tend to have itchy scalp. It definitely calming my itching down.
